Since establishment in 1985, over 4000 students have graduated successfully from FNTI with certificates, diplomas and degrees, granted in partnership with Ontario’s Colleges and Universities. An Indigenous postsecondary institution, FNTI offers programs targeted at Indigenous learners across a wide range of postsecondary disciplines including aviation, health, business, and public administration.FNTI is located on the beautiful Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory along the shores of the Bay of Quinte. Description:
FNTI is in an exciting period of growth and transformation. We are searching for a dynamic and experienced
leader to join us in the role of Director of Maintenance.
FNTI offers the only Indigenous post-secondary Aviation Advanced diploma program in Canada. We operate a
fleet of 8 C172’s and a Piper Seminole. Five of our new aircraft are equipped with G1000 NXI avionics.
We are in the new hangar building phase which will house our fleet, dispatch, classrooms and state of the art
Approved Maintenance Organization at Mohawk Aerodrome.
Reporting to the Dean of Aviation and working closely with Senior Leadership and an experienced maintenance
team. The DOM will oversee integration of maintenance operations and reinforce our focus on safety, increase
aircraft reliability, and support our transition to new aircraft types.
The ideal candidate will be experienced operations manager with a successful track record within the aviation
maintenance industry. You have strong technical qualifications, and excellent communicator who can connect
quickly and positively with others and who can naturally build relationships.

Responsibilities:
FNTI is the certificate holder of a Flight Training Unit (FTU) and Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO)
under the authority granted by Transport Canada.
The DOM shall ensure these approved certificates held by FNTI continue to meet Transport Canada
requirements, ensure that the maintenance control system remains effective and manage all areas of aircraft
maintenance. The Director of Maintenance (DOM) shall manage the operational and administrative activities of
the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) in accordance with the policies set out in the Maintenance Policy
Manual (MPM)
The Director of Maintenance also performs the duties of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME).
The Director of Maintenance works closely with the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer(s), apprentice(s), the Chief
Flight Instructor (CFI) and the Dean of Aviation.
The Director of Maintenance is a member of the FNTI Management Team and participates fully
in all aspects of the organization.
Selection Criteria:
The Director of Maintenance appointed under paragraph 573.04(1) of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs)
shall have acquired a minimum of six years’ experience in the performance or direct supervision of maintenance
activities of the type undertaken by the organization, at least six months of which have been obtained within the
preceding two years.
• Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations
• A valid Transport Canada AME license, rated for the category for which he/she is responsible
• No convictions under chapter 7.3 of the Aeronautics Act of Canada
• proficiency with MS Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills
• Attention to detail, accuracy of work, and ability to meet tight deadlines
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills; outgoing, professional attitude
• able to work independently without supervision or also as a team member
• Physically capable of performing duties assigned in respect of heavy lifting, pulling, awkward position,
working in confined space, working outdoors or standing for extended periods
• A valid Ontario G driver license
• Familiarity with safety management systems, project management, and reliability management
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and respect for Indigenous perspectives
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across cultural
boundaries
Conditions of Employment:
• Willing and able to travel on occasion as well as work overtime as required
• Successful candidates must provide a satisfactory CPIC
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
