OVERVIEW

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree is of great value in today's competitive job market.

Delivered in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University, the BSW program prepares you for a wide range of careers in the field of social work: family service agencies, children's aid societies, general and psychiatric hospitals, school boards, correctional facilities, social service agencies, federal and provincial departments or private practice.

The program covers social work research and practice, and includes training in the field with opportunities to explore areas of special interest through electives and professionally-related courses. This unique program develops social workers who embody self-determination, cultural preservation and holistic healing in Indigenous communities.

The Bachelor of Social Work is one of the only bachelor's degrees that requires an internship or field placement, which will give you the practical experience necessary to kick-start your career.

Upper year study will consist of four placement sessions plus unpaid, supervised, placement at a different agency than where students are currently working, which entails completing 504 additional hours in this placement.

Through this experience, you will gain valuable skills and insight that will help you understand the diverse roles, settings, and responsibilities of the social work profession.
