Job Summary

 

The Chief Financial Officer will report directly to the President and is responsible for preparing financial statements, maintaining cash controls, and financial analysis.  The CFO will be a part of the administrative team when required, providing information and reports to assist in sound decision making.  The CFO will work towards the strategic priorities of the institute while adhering to the values, mission and vision.

Duties

Under the direction of the President, the key responsibilities of the CFO will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures;
  • Provide reporting to the President and Board of Directors on a quarterly basis;
  • Provide reporting to Managers, Board of Directors and President on a monthly and as needed basis;
  • Oversee the overall operations and effective performance of the finance department and staff;
  • Manage the daily operations of the department including overseeing all financial activities; 
  • Provide supervision and mentoring/coaching to staff within finance;
  • Ensure yearly budget preparation and ensure compliance with all other internal and external reporting requirements;
  • Provide guidance and support to managers where needed in relation to budgets;
  • Provide guidance and support to managers in relation to verifying proposal figures and reports before submission;
  • Provide resources to administration where required in the areas of financial reporting;
  • Provide resources to administration where required in financial management and financial planning;
  • Provide financial statements and work with auditors on annual audit, ensuring that all information is provided in a timely, efficient and organized state

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other relevant degree;
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role within a mid-size not-for-profit, educational or Indigenous organization;
  • Professional designation (CPA or other relevant designation) considered an asset; Or a combination of education, training and experience which FNTI deems to be equivalent;
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in generally accepted accounting principles;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills;
  • Successful experience dealing with financial reporting, budgets, internal controls, business planning and asset management;
  • Well organized with strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Attention to detail, accuracy of work, and ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Must be an intermediate/advanced user of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Must have experience with ACCPAC;
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability;
  • A strong record of achievement in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including government departments;
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to motivate, develop and nurture team members; 
  • Ability to maintain accuracy in working with data and complex information;
  • Ability to multitask and determine priorities;
  • Additional duties as required;
  • Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check;
  • Must possess a valid class ‘G’ drivers license

Job Summary

The Student Success Facilitator (SSF) is the first and on-going point of contact for learners, following their admission to programs, as specifically assigned by the Director, Learner Success and Service Delivery. SSF’s develop and maintain successful relationships with learners and faculty to support students, enhancing their success and FNTI’s profile. SSF’s will be required to effectively organize all aspects of delivery session set-up including attending sessions and to provide support to students and faculty. The SSF also assists admissions/recruitment in the conversion continuum (prospective students to applicant to registered student).

Duties

The key responsibilities of the Student Success Facilitator will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Creating and maintaining student records and updating as required;
  • Establish and sustain student relationships by maintaining on-going communication with students of assigned cohorts; assisting them with all course/program related non-academic issues, responding to enquiries between sessions, aligning appropriate resources, etc.;
  • Forwarding information to the Records Office such as confirmed class lists and grades in a timely manner.
  • Follow up with faculty to obtain grades, inform students of application to graduate process;
  • Produce student records, such as; progression charts for PAG, grade reports, potential student completion lists;
  • Prepare, execute and collate feedback for student evaluations;
  • Organizing and leading student relationship building through cultural activities such as; feasts, crafting, assisting with ceremonies, etc. Procurement of necessary supplies;
  • Responding to general program enquiry as part of admissions process, including enquiries with regard to partner admissions processes;
  • Post offer/enrolment, maintain frequent contact with students, answering enquiries and providing program information up to the start of the first session;
  • Supports student through the advance standing credit process by receiving complete information from the student for Prior Learning Assessments (P.L.A) and/or transfer credits and forward to the Records Office in a timely manner;
  • All set-up aspects of a session/delivery – room arrangements; travel, accommodations for students and faculty; snacks/meals, supplies for delivery;
  • Order books and other learning materials; transports or arranges to have materials delivers on-site;
  • Arranges instructional technical supplies; projector, television, powerpoint;
  • Provides last minute logistical support as requires – photocopies, break-out rooms;
  • Creates and processes all personal and instructor expense claims; process and deliver Elders payments;
  • Arranges completion celebration for the final session of each program;
  • Receives and processes paper or electronic applications to graduate for College and University partners, forwarding to Records Office in a timely manner;
  • Liaise with other members of the Program Team and FNTI staff;
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Relevant 2-year diploma with experience, preferably, in an Indigenous educational environment. 

  • A combination of education, training and experience which FNTI deems to be equivalent;

  • As travel to certain sessions and meetings is required, must posses a valid Ontario class ‘G’ drivers license;
  • Preference will be given to internal applicants and qualified candidates of Indigenous descent

This position is in pay band 4 of FNTI’s pay grid and will start at $35,719.

Job Summary:

 

 FNTI is seeking a FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR for our First Peoples’ Aviation Technology - Flight Program, in partnership with Canadore College, who will be responsible for: 
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment; 
  • Delivering flight and ground school training; 
  • Maintaining student files; 
  • Establishing, maintaining and validating the documentation required by Transport Canada; 
  • Utilizing various teaching methods and strategies to meet the individual needs of learners and that is informed by Indigenous teachings and practices 

 

Required Qualifications: 
  • Class III or IV Instructor Rating; 
  • A combination of post-secondary education and experience deemed acceptable by FNTI; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; 
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and, be a part of a team; 
  • Outgoing, professional attitude 
 
Desirable Qualifications: 
  • Group 1 Instrument Rating; 
  • 50 hours Multi-Engine time; 
  • Recent Instructional Experience; 
  • Available to work flexible hours which may include evenings and weekends 
  • Post-secondary education in aviation would be an asset;
