OVERVIEW 

This program trains students to offer personal care and home management services to clients in  community or institutional settings. Personal support workers provide services to clients with physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioural challenges. Learn hands-on in the classroom, on community placements and in the home environment simulation lab equipped with high-end fidelity audio/visual equipment and interactive mannequins. PSWs are highly sought after as health care providers, working collaboratively as part of the health care team or in a supported independent living environment.

FIELD PLACEMENT 

All students will complete mandatory in-person clinical community placement to support virtual classroom learning. Placement will consist of 265 hours of paid work experience. All in-person learning and clinical components will take place in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, ON.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS 

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, ENG4C or ENG4U.

In order to complete the mandatory clinical placement component of the PSW program, you will be required to show proof of vaccination (including current Covid protocol, Hepatitis-B, and Varicella), a clear Tuberculosis test, as well as a clear vulnerable sector screening police check.
