Indigenous Garden Design and Teachings
Through practical activities and collaborative learning, learners will gain foundational knowledge of Indigenous and non-Indigenous garden design, maintenance and planning practices. The Indigenous worldviews and skills required to demonstrate cultural fluency in garden design will be explored from a respectful and wholistic perspective. Following teamwork and activities, participants will be able to practice Indigenous approaches such as seed saving, relational responsibilities, and traditional food teachings.
Learning Outcomes
- Produce a garden plan that includes a design, maintenance, harvest, and storage plan based on the knowledge and skills.
- Identify and define the cultural fluencies needed to work effectively employing Indigenous food practices such as seed saving, food nutrition, and traditional food teachings.
