Healing from an Indigenous Foundation

This micro-credential examines the impacts of colonization, oppression, and trauma on Indigenous people and their ability to sustain healthy living. This micro-credential will introduce learners to cultural strategies various communities have utilized for healing, including on the land healing activities, language, ceremony, values, beliefs, rituals, and customs. Learners will explore how culture-based healing strengthens not only the individual but the family and community as well.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify various ways of grassroots healing that promote balanced wellness and spiritual connection with self and community.
  2. Identify, examine, and describe characteristics of healing and resilience that are rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and seeing.
  3. Identify and meaningfully describe the impacts of colonization, oppression, and trauma imposed on Indigenous people
