Ohahase Graduation 2016 group holding cake

On the evening of June 30th, FNTI staff, students and families, gathered at Briar Fox Golf & Country Club to celebrate the achievements of 5 students that completed their Grade 12. A 6th student completed as well but was unable to attend the celebration. The students were accompanied by Mohawk singers and sang traditional songs upon their entrance to the event. They then concluded with more traditional songs as the ceremony ended. The presentation included speeches from Ohahase Principal, Sandy Brant, and congratulatory remarks from Tanya Bardy, Education Assistant. The students each received their diplomas, and Nicole was selected to deliver a speech on behalf of the students. She commented on how meaningful her time at Ohahase had been, and the valuable skills she gained both in the classroom and through her placement with Sandy Pines, throughout her time in the Youth Job Connection Program, delivered in partnership with Career Edge. Her employer from Sandy Pines was also on hand to see her graduate, and to be presented with a certificate of appreciation for their support of the Job Connection program. Family and friends beamed with pride as the students received their diplomas. The students were all very proud of themselves and each other for reaching this important milestone. Best of luck to all of the graduates on behalf of all of us here at FNTI. Congratulations and all the best for a bright and successful future.
