(Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Ont.) -- Students in First Nations Technical Institute’s early childhood education (ECE) program will be receiving a digital resource library today. 

As a part of a pilot project, this year's ECE cohorts are being allocated a Rumie tablet, a digital learning solution pre-loaded with interactive educational content that is tailored to meet the needs of learners. 

During course delivery, a variety of print and multi-media resources are utilized in order to deliver vocational and cultural learning outcomes. The Rumie allows FNTI’s faculty and student success facilitators to create media-rich information and document repositories specific to ECE program delivery in one place. The ultimate goal is for students to be able to access all course content – including textbooks – through this singular digital tool with convenience and ease, enhancing academic and student success. 

The Rumies were purchased by FNTI for the pilot project. The educational tablets are built with intuitive software designed for learning and use a simple interface for students of all ages.  

User feedback will be collected throughout the 2019-2020 academic year to determine if the pilot was successful. Dependent on the results, the initiative may be rolled out to additional student cohorts in the coming years.
