There are still some spaces available for the August 10-12 Wellness Camp for young women aged 13-19, say organizers.
This free camp is organized by FNTI's Tyendinaga Justice Circle to provide young women time to relax and rejuvinate in a natural setting. Justice Circle Coordinator Shannon Butcher says there will be be activites and ceremonies for those who wish to join in.
One of activities will be beading eagle feathers Shannon has managed to get.
"Culturally speaking, it is a great honour to be given an eagle feather," explains Shannon. Participants will be beading leather ‘handles’ for the feathers, and shall give these sacred items away to a special person in their lives as a token of respect, honour and acknowledgment.
Young women interested in attending the camp can contact Shannon at shannonb@fnti.net or call her at (613)396-2122, ext. 166.
