Program: Social Service Worker

Name/Spirit Name: Daniel Doxtator

Community: Oneida

Teachings and Future Goals: I have learned about interpersonal skills, confidentiality, ethics, harm reduction, crisis intervention, and ways of coping with burnout. My communication skills have improved and I have gained more confidence, which will be beneficial when I enter the work force. Placement has helped me understand the current situation the homeless community face. Working in the vulnerable sector gives me motivation to encourage others and advocate for those who need help, support and guidance.

FNTI has helped me achieve my goals through in-depth education, social and cultural knowledge and training. There was a lot of support from teachers, cultural advisors and student success facilitators. I greatly appreciate and value the educational experience, and I will apply what I have learned into the community and work force.
