FNTI Alumni Touch Down

FNTI Alumni Touch Down

FNTI alumni Nathan Walker and Sabrina Manitowabi never dreamed they would be landing back on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory’s Airfield in a Dash-8. The two pilots touched down at their alma mater on Sat, March 9th, along with 14 other passengers, most of which are also FNTI alumni, to attend a celebration of life.

Walker is originally from TMT and graduated from FNTI’s aviation program in 2001. Manitowabi of Wikwemikong graduated in 2007, and both pilots are now working for Air Creebec, a regional airline based out of Quebec and Ontario.

FNTI Aviation Director and Chief Flight Instructor Jo-Anne Tabobandung said she was absolutely bursting with pride at the success of her former students.

Air Creebec Operations Chief, Ernie Sutherland, had called the day before to let Tabobandung know that they were going to be coming to Tyendinaga. Tabobandung immediately got the team together and opened dispatch for the Dash-8.

While the plane was here, all of the current FNTI Aviation students also got to tour the aircraft and chat with the pilots.

Here is a video of the team landing and taking off from Tyendinaga airport:
